Anna
Anna’s hearing loss came on suddenly, and her family did not have a history or experience with hearing loss. Anna’s family attributes her success to support from her Clarke teacher of the deaf. Today, Anna’s family reports that she is thriving with school and home activities including dance, basketball, horseback riding and swimming.
Emma
Emma was awarded a school-wide award for perseverance! Darragh, Emma’s Mom said, “We know that she wouldn’t be where she is today if it wasn’t for our whole Clarke family!”
Addyson
Addyson is the only student in her school district with cochlear implants, and she’s excelling at more than gymnastics. She’s a straight-A, second-grade student who is reading at a fourth-grade level. Her favorite subject is math.
Matthew
In early January, Clarke student Matthew and his classmates learned about Martin Luther King Jr. The following week, Matthew’s teacher asked him to share “weekend news” with the class. He drew a picture of himself at his house and wrote: I
Leah
Leah was diagnosed with bilateral severe sensorineural hearing loss and was just under 10 months old when her family began the tVISIT Program with Clarke .
Leighton
Like most caregivers who discover their child was born with a hearing loss, Nina and Spencer worried at first how their infant daughter would communicate and if she would struggle academically and socially. Thanks to her cochlear implants and a listening and spoken language (LSL) education at Clarke Florida, four-year-old Leighton is an expressive child with a big personality and a budding passion for sports.
John
John was diagnosed with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss at birth during his newborn hearing screening. In 2017, John’s parents enrolled him in Clarke Birth to Age Three Program. “From the time John was 15 months old, the Clarke team supported, taught, encouraged, believed in and loved John,”
Dexter
Dexter has a single-sided profound hearing loss and wears a bone anchored hearing aid (BAHA) to help access sound.
