The Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program

Support Clarke Pennsylvania and Receive a Tax Credit

How Does it Work?

The Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program is a way for individuals or businesses who make a one or two-year commitment to need-based scholarships to receive a state tax credit.

We Are EITC-Approved!

Clarke Pennsylvania—where children who are deaf or hard of hearing learn to listen and talk—is an approved pre-k recipient for needs-based scholarship funding through the EITC program. When contributions are made through an approved Pennsylvania EITC scholarship organization like BLOCS, Clarke Pennsylvania can be designated as a recipient to distribute financial aid and scholarship funds to families. Through BLOCS, the minimum contribution to a pre-k organization is $2,500.

Hearing Loss in Infants and Children

In the United States today, hearing loss in children is a low-incidence disability affecting approximately 4,000 (or 3 in every 1,000) newborns each year. With access to sound through cochlear implants—or highly powerful hearing aids and other assistive devices—children born with hearing loss today can access sound earlier than ever before. But because these devices do not fully replicate natural hearing, children who are deaf or hard of hearing are in urgent need of specialized early intervention services to rehabilitate the auditory and linguistic system in the brain, and thereby mitigate the considerable risk of listening, language and speech delays. Clarke’s role is to equip children with the tools and skills to access sound and language in their earliest years, when the brain is most malleable, and to also support children and their families from early childhood through their high school years, as needed, in mainstream settings.

Please Help Expand the Number of Individuals and Businesses Who Support Clarke

Most contributions to EITC come from individuals, so please share this with your friends and family. You may also want to check with your employer regarding their participation in the EITC program. Businesses can choose to contribute to Clarke, through the EITC program and receive a significant tax credit. But we need your help to tell them about Clarke and that we are an approved EITC recipient.

Why We Recommend BLOCS

Founded in 1980, BLOCS is the largest aggregator of Educational Improvement Tax Credits in the state. BLOCS has received the Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, Lasallian Impact Award and 4/4 star rating on Charity Navigator.
