Clarke Pennsylvania, a school and resource for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, is located on Saint Joseph’s University’s Hawk Hill campus providing opportunities for experiential learning and interprofessional programming between both institutions. Clarke is easily accessible for families in the PA suburbs and surrounding counties.
The site serves children and their families from birth through young adulthood. We partner with caregivers to provide the knowledge and support needed to help their children build the listening, learning and spoken language skills to reach their full potential.

In August 2024, Clarke Pennsylvania relocated to Saint Joseph’s University’s Hawk Hill campus, providing opportunities for experiential learning and interprofessional programming between both institutions. A renovation of 5414 Overbrook Avenue has provided a customized space for Clarke students to learn and play.
In its collegiate setting on Saint Joseph’s University’s Hawk Hill campus, Clarke Pennsylvania professionals provide high-quality education and therapy to babies, toddlers and preschoolers who are deaf or hard of hearing. Classrooms are designed for the unique acoustical needs of children with hearing loss and utilize sound field amplification systems paired with the children’s personal hearing technology.
Clarke Pennsylvania also offers audiological services and inclusion opportunities for preschoolers. Mainstream services provided by Clarke Pennsylvania's teachers of the deaf support private, charter and public schools in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Clarke has been such a huge lifesaver for my family! We’ve been receiving weekly in-home services for almost two years, and recently joined Toddler Group as well. Along the way, we’ve built so many relationships with families and teachers who are all there for each other, and everyone has such big hearts! We look forward to working with Clarke in the future and even as an alumni!

Families can learn alongside their children with various opportunities for parent groups, field trips and classroom observations. Clarke’s Mainstream Services in Philadelphia and surrounding counties support children and their families transitioning into mainstream schools, with customizable services for each student's unique needs. A team of dedicated professionals, including itinerant teachers of the deaf, speech-language pathologists and an educational audiologist are part of the general education team.

Clarke's teachers of the deaf serve students who are deaf or hard of hearing from preschool through high school in mainstream school settings.

Individual auditory, speech and language services are available for children in mainstream programs, giving them access to the tools they need to thrive at school.

Clarke's audiological services include educational audiology consultation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in mainstream schools.
Transitional Planning Services
Clarke offers Transitional Planning Services to help facilitate adjustment into mainstream school, working with the student, their family and the school staff to prepare for transition.

Clarke Pennsylvania is located in the former Germantown Hospital on the campus of LaSalle University. When coming to Clarke Philadelphia from I-76, please take I-76 to Route 1 (Roosevelt Blvd). You will exit Roosevelt Blvd at Germantown Avenue. This will place you on W. Roberts Avenue, which changes to Berkley Street and then Stenton Avenue.
At a traffic light, you will then turn left onto Belfield Avenue and then, at the next traffic light, you will turn right onto Wister Street. At the traffic light at Wister and Chew Avenue, you will make a tight left turn onto Penn Blvd.
When approaching the location from Chew Avenue, you will see signs at the entrance to the complex for both LaSalle University and the Crisis Response Center. After turning into the complex, please turn into the second driveway and parking lot on your right, Parking Lot J. After parking, please proceed to the building and entrance closest to Chew Street. Our building is red brick and has large lettering on the front that says "Germantown Hospital Medical Building". Please note that there will be a $2.00 charge for exiting Lot J. Please see someone on staff at Clarke to inquire about receiving a parking token to avoid this cost prior to completing your visit at Clarke Pennsylvania.
