Meet Salvatore

Salvatore, born with severe to profound hearing loss in 2015, started with Clarke initially through the Birth to Age Three Program when he was just four months old. Sal eventually went on to Clarke’s Preschool Program at three years old. He graduated from Clarke and smoothly transitioned to his mainstream kindergarten. Currently, Sal receives teacher of the deaf services through Clarke at his mainstream school.

Salvatore is doing phenomenally in his academics! One of the brightest in his class, according to his kindergarten teacher. He loves socializing with his peers and presenting in front of the entire class. He loves coming home and telling his family what he learned at school. Salvatore advocates for himself in the classroom, knowing how to connect to his hearing devices at school.

Sal’s hobbies include participating in dance class and listening to music! He recently started playing hockey after school. One of his latest accomplishments includes teaching himself how to play piano by ear!

“I cannot say enough great things about Clarke and the huge impact they have made for my own family,” says Carmella, Salvatore’s mother. “When we got the diagnosis that Sal was born deaf, we thought it would be a quiet world for him. Clarke helped us see that it wasn’t our only option! Since my very first phone call, Clarke has been with us every step of the way helping not only Sal, but also our entire family over the years. They truly became part of our family!”

“It’s been such an amazing journey to watch Sal become the loud, confident and silly little man that he is today. They helped Sal find his voice and it’s been amazing to have their support all these years.”
