Lacking Local Resources, Kenzie Receives Remote Support with Clarke’s tVisit® Teleservices
Kenzie’s journey with Clarke began at four months old. Diagnosed with profound hearing loss in Bermuda, Kenzie’s family faced significant challenges due to the island’s limited resources for children with hearing loss. Finding early intervention services and specialized speech therapists was particularly difficult.
That’s when Kenzie’s parents discovered Clarke. According to them, “Before finding Clarke, our only resource was social media, which often led to misinformation and unnecessary stress. Our first conversation with a Clarke team member alleviated much of this anxiety. Her expertise and reassuring presence helped dispel many of the fears exacerbated by online forums.”
Kenzie was bilaterally implanted at nine months and began her LSL journey at 10 months. Clarke team members provided Kenzie’s parents with tools and activities to support her at home, explained developmental milestones for children with hearing loss, and interacted with Kenzie during sessions. Their support has been crucial in filling the gap left by the lack of local resources.
Kenzie’s family is grateful for the technology that allowed them to access early assistance. Now in a childcare setting with approximately 10 hearing children, Kenzie is thriving. Her language skills are growing rapidly—she loves to sing and adores books.
