The Scott D. Fletcher Teacher of the Year Award was established in 1990 by Mr. and Mrs. David Fletcher to recognize teachers who are exceptional in caring for and educating students. This award is given annually at graduation in honor of the Fletchers’ son, Scott, who was a member of the class of 1990. The recipient of this award is a teacher who has made significant contributions to the education of Clarke Northampton students and is selected by a vote of their peers.
Clarke Northampton leadership, in collaboration with the Fletcher family, determined that this unique school year called for a special awardee.
To the dozens of students, families, teachers and staff gathered at the virtual ceremony, Marian Hartblay announced that this year, Clarke Northampton’s entire teaching staff, speech language pathologists, and teaching assistants will be honored for their outstanding dedication and excellence.
This excellence has made an impact beyond Clarke families as well. Marian shared that parents and school districts have commented over and over that Clarke’s responsiveness and level of remote instruction has been outstanding. As one special education professional commented, “I work with a lot of schools and out of district programs. Clarke’s remote services are head and shoulders above any of the other public or private programs I’ve seen.”
The Fletcher family also shared that in recognition of the entire Clarke Northampton teaching staff, the monetary portion of this award will be used to fund a special celebratory event to honor all Clarke Northampton teachers at a later date. Congratulations to the awardees!
