School During the Pandemic: Clarke Families Share their Experiences with AG Bell

Clarke families and two professionals share their unique experiences with school and learning during the pandemic in Alexander Graham Bell Association’s (AG Bell) digital publication Volta Voices.

Stretching from New York to Florida, families highlight hybrid and virtual learning and share advice for fellow families.

“We have to model for them [children] that this is hard for everyone but hard in unique ways for someone who is deaf or hard of hearing,” explains Meredith Berger, director of Clarke New York and parent of fifth-grader Eila who has a bilateral moderate-moderately severe conductive hearing loss. “We also try to balance that with what she herself [Eila] is responsible for.”
