“We have to model for them [children] that this is hard for everyone but hard in unique ways for someone who is deaf or hard of hearing,” explains Meredith Berger, director of Clarke New York and parent of fifth-grader Eila who has a bilateral moderate-moderately severe conductive hearing loss. “We also try to balance that with what she herself [Eila] is responsible for.”
