Tune In! On the Ear: An Audiology Podcast Features Clarke Program Director

Meredith Headshot

Tune in to On the Ear: An Audiology Podcast hosted by Dakota Sharp to hear Meredith Berger, MSEd. SBL/SDL, Director of Clarke New York, lead a deep dive on Microtia/Atresia.  Microtia is a small or absent pinna (outer ear), while Atresia is the absence or having no ear canal.

Learn about different intervention options for families caring for a child with Microtia/Atresia and how to guide families during periods of vulnerability. Meredith describes the unique and critical role of Listening and Spoken Language professionals, and notes, “We are able to work with families — babies as young as three or four weeks of age — at really early points in the early intervention system, to lead them through to understand what they can access and help them to have high expectations. Really from those early moments on we can support them in figuring out what their goal is for their child and their family.” Listeners will also uncover common misconceptions about Microtia/Atresia.

Each On the Ear is worth .1 ASHA CEU after completing the accompanying course through SpeechTherapypd.com.
