Clarke Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf Receives Albert E. Trieschman Memorial Award for Exceptional Direct Service to Children

We’re proud to share that Heather Stinson, Clarke itinerant teacher of the deaf, was presented with the 2019 Albert E. Trieschman Memorial Award for Exceptional Direct Service to Children at maaps 41st Annual Conference on Friday, May 3, 2019.

The conference is the largest full-day conference in New England dedicated to meeting the multidisciplinary professional development needs of both private and public special education school staff.

Heather serves children who are deaf or hard of hearing as an itinerant teacher in the mainstream, but her efforts don’t stop there. Stinson is the author of Clarke’s Hear Me Out blog, which shares tips and best practices for teachers of the deaf and other professionals working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. She’s applauded by her colleagues for her honest look at the challenging and rewarding role of an itinerant teacher of the deaf.
