American Education Week, Leadership Transition & Clarke's Vision

American Ed Week Graphic

As Clarke celebrates American Education Week this November, we’re honoring the work of educators who support students of all ages and generating awareness that impactful, safe, just and equitable learning is essential.

For context, American Education Week was instituted in 1921 to highlight the importance of public education and to encourage US citizens to support public education. The past few years of remote classrooms, online learning and hybrid education models have provided many with a new awareness of just how essential education and education professionals are.

The talented team of professionals at Clarke continues to advance the work of the organization, providing services to more than 1,000 families annually, and ensuring that these children’s needs are met—from infants to high school seniors.

Looking ahead, we’re pleased to share that Judy Sexton, MS, CED LSLS Cert AVEd, has assumed the role of Head of Programs & Schools and Interim President. Judy, who has worked in the education field for 40 years, will continue to lead programming across all Clarke locations. We are grateful to former President and CEO Bruce Skyer for his leadership, and we wish him success as he transitions from Clarke!

We’re working closely with our Board of Trustees to envision Clarke’s future. Our expanded strategic plan will ensure we continue to meet the evolving needs of families along the East Coast and across the country via teleservices.

As always, we welcome questions, ideas and feedback. Please contact info@clarkeschools.org. To learn more about American Education Week, visit the National Education Association’s (NEA) webpage
