A Listening Scavenger Hunt at Zoos in Pennsylvania, New York and Massachusetts

In 2018, Clarke's Listening Walk at the Zoo events were held in three states, engaged more than 2,000 people and raised more than $215,000 in life-changing funds supporting children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Clarke’s Listening Walk events are uniquely designed to show the public that children who are deaf or hard of hearing can listen and talk. These signature listening scavenger hunt events, presented by Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech, raise awareness and support for Clarke and help ensure that more children and families than ever before have access to listening and spoken language therapy and education.

Listening Walks are designed to encourage children who are deaf or hard of hearing, and their friends and siblings, to use their listening skills to discover new sounds throughout the zoo, like the honk of a flamingo or the squeak of a bat.
