Our Policy.
This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) covers the treatment by Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech (“Clarke,” “we” or “us”) of personal information or personally identifiable information (both “Personal Information”) that may be collected or submitted when the web-user (“you”) are using the Clarke’s website or services.  By using Clarke’s website or such services, you consent to the privacy procedures described in this Policy.  This Policy does not apply to websites, services or entities that Clarke does not own or control.

Information We Collect. 
We collect and store any information that you provide to us.  For example, while using Clarke’s website, you may submit Personal Information when donating, volunteering, ordering materials, registering for an event or signing up to receive communications.  Such Personal Information may include your name, email address and credit card or other billing information.

Clarke may use the Personal Information you provide for purposes such as: carrying out a registration or transaction made by you; customizing the content you see; improving the content and overall look and feel of our website and services; contacting you; conducting research; and/or providing anonymous reporting for internal and external partners.  Clarke may also retain the details of transactions or donations made with us or the third parties affiliated with our website.

We also receive and store certain types of information when you interact with us via the internet.  Types of information collected may include your IP address, and information regarding your computer, your connection to our website (such as your browser type, operating system, and platform) and your user history (including, but not limited to, your session information, page errors and the length of your visits to specific pages within our website).

We may obtain information, including Personal Information, from third parties with whom we work or whose websites are integrated in or linked to our website.

Use of Cookies. 
Clarke rarely uses cookies to remember certain user information. Cookies are electronic identifiers that are transferred automatically to your computer through your browser that allow our computers to save certain information you provide us and store information about you so we can recognize you when you visit our website in the future. This may allow you to avoid logging in more than once, which saves time, and create a customized website that fits your needs. You may, at any time, disable or refuse to accept cookies by changing the preferences or settings on your web browser. If you choose to disable cookies, you will still be able to use our website, although some parts of the website may not work properly for you. Our website integrates or links to certain third party websites.  Those third parties may use cookies or similar online tracking tools.  Information collected by any such third party is subject to such third party’s privacy policy.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Sharing of Information. 
It is Clarke’s policy not to disclose, sell or rent your personal information to any individual, business, government entity or outside party except as described below.  Our site integrates with or links to third party service providers, which may need to use Personal Information to perform services.  We may share data with third party service providers that perform services for us.  Clarke works with the following third parties to support fundraising, outreach, volunteer management and data management:

  • Classy for events, online donations and online fundraising
  • Flickr for photography
  • Vimeo and YouTube for video sharing
  • CafePress for logoed merchandise
  • Events.com for event registration and payments
  • Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram for social media 

Sites that are accessible through our website have their own privacy policies and data collection, use and disclosure practices.  Please consult such third party privacy policies.  We are not responsible for the policies or practices of third parties.

Clarke may also disclose your personal information (i) to provide information or services you have requested through us; (ii) in response to a validly-issued subpoena, court order, or other legal process; (iii) when necessary to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal action; or (iv) where you request Clarke to do so.

Your personal information will not be collected for any use that is in violation of the law.  Your personal information will also not be used for a purpose that is unrelated to the purpose that is discussed in this Policy, unless you are provided an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

Please note that whenever you voluntarily disclose Personal Information online, this information cannot be made one-hundred percent secure and, in some cases, that information can be intercepted, collected and used by others. You acknowledge that there are security and privacy limitations inherent in the Internet which are beyond our control.  However, we work hard to protect your information at all times. Locally information is stored on secure servers utilizing some of the most advanced technology.  Information is protected using both server authentication and data encryption, ensuring that your data is safe, secure and available only to registered users in our organization.

Clarke works with third parties for some data collection and to process donations and payments.  This website contains links to other third party websites. Please be aware that Clarke does not have any responsibility for the privacy practices of these third party sites. If you choose to navigate to another website through our website, we encourage you to review the privacy policy of such website.  We encourage you to be aware when you leave our site and to take reasonable precautions when sharing your personally identifiable information.

Choices Available to You.

You may decline to provide information when it is requested.  If you do so, certain features on our website may be unavailable to you.

You may “opt in” to receive newsletters and other useful information from Clarke. To opt out of our mailings, please use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the electronic communication.

You also have choices with respect to cookies as described above.  If you choose to disable cookies, some part of our website may not work properly for you.

You are responsible for ensuring that all Personal Information you provide on the website is maintained and kept current, if applicable.  We have a link through which you may record a change of address with us.

Privacy of Children.
Our website is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 years.  We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 years.  We do not knowingly collect information about any children without the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Comments.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
