Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Joins Clarke to Celebrate Bullying Prevention Month and Unity Day

Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office (JSO) safety and prevention officers joined Clarke to celebrate unity and kindness.

Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office (JSO) safety and prevention officers joined Clarke to celebrate unity and kindness on Unity Day. Students wore orange to show unity for kindness, acceptance and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.

A study published by the National Institute of Health found that students who are deaf or hard of hearing are two to three times more likely to be bullied than their peers. With this elevated risk, Clarke is committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for students. An important part of Clarke’s work is teaching self-advocacy. Our continuum of programs and services cultivate social, emotional and cognitive tools at all stages of life.

In the spirit of the season, students participated in a “trunk or treat” celebration, visited with officers, discussed kindness and received special plush animals.
