Clarke's Listening Walk at the Zoo in the News

Clarke was featured on ABC6 and PHL17, showcasing Clarke’s Listening Walk at the Zoo on May 18, 2025.

The excited voices of hundreds of children who are deaf or hard of hearing could be heard on Sunday, May 18, at the Philadelphia Zoo!

These students and alums of Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech in Pennsylvania—as well as their families, friends and supporters—participated in Clarke’s Listening Walk at the Zoo to practice the Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) skills they’re learning as part of their education at Clarke.

Designed to raise funds for the non-profit school while also spotlighting the fact that children who are deaf or hard of hearing can learn to listen and talk, Clarke’s Listening Walk at the Zoo combines elements of fun and education with a scavenger hunt through the zoo to find and identify the many hoots, roars, splashes and caws the zoo has to offer!

The 2025 Clarke Listening Walk at the Zoo event in Philadelphia raised more than $64,000 for Clarke. The funds raised will benefit Clarke students, including the hundreds of families served in the Birth to Age Three Program, Preschool Program and Mainstream Services in Pennsylvania.

We’d like to extend our gratitude to ABC6 and PHL17 for helping capture and share the highlights of this annual event.
