When parents of young children who are newly diagnosed as deaf or hard of hearing first come to Clarke Philadelphia, their initial contact is often with Clarke’s Early Intervention Coordinator Jeana Novak M.A., LSLS Cert. AVEd. Kristen McCuen, whose two young sons receive Clarke services, recalled that “Jeana was the first person to welcome us as we walked through the door at Clarke. She knew the worrisome look on our faces and, before she even knew our family, she offered a hug and assured us that everything would be okay.”

Jeana has been at Clarke in Pennsylvania since its inception in 2001 and she is a beacon of expertise for all things related to the field of Early Intervention for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Countless parents in Pennsylvania have a “Jeana story;” Jeana by their side at the hospital during a cochlear implant procedure, or Jeana on the phone with them at nine o’clock at night on a Sunday. There is an overwhelming sentiment from families that, “we couldn’t have gotten through this without Jeana. “ And that is no understatement.

Clarke parent, Kristen, sums it up best: “Jeana's knowledge and caring personality has always helped to make our family feel at ease. Our children are able to thrive and be successful in the mainstream thanks to her guidance and hard work.”

Jeana works ceaselessly to ensure that parents know all that is possible for their children, collaborating with them to provide the best listening and spoken language strategies available. Jeana Novak is dedicated to helping children at Clarke learn to listen and talk. All of us at Clarke, from staff to many indebted families – too numerous to count – are grateful to her beyond measure.
