Clarke Director and Assistant Director Present Poster at EHDI Annual Meeting

March 7, 2012—Barbara F. Hecht, Ph.D., Director of Clarke’s Boston area campus and Mary Jane Johnson, M.Ed. LSLS Cert. AVEd, Assistant Director, presented a poster titled “Transforming School into a Natural Environment for Infants and Toddlers” at the Early Hearing Detection & Intervention (EHDI) Annual Meeting held March 5-6 in Saint Louis, MO.

The poster detailed Clarke Boston’s innovative hybrid home-visit and center-based EI program in which center-based services are provided in a homelike setting, with a focus on everyday family activities.  The poster also provided guidance to staff in transforming therapy EI models into natural activity-based services.

Now in its 11th year, the EHDI Meeting has built a strong reputation for bringing together a wide variety of attendees including those who: work in state Early Hearing Detection and Intervention programs; assist in EHDI efforts on the federal level; provide screening, diagnostic and early intervention support at the state/ local level to young children with hearing loss and their families; champion Medical Home activities within each state; are parents of children with hearing loss; or are deaf or hard-of-hearing adults who are helping to expand opportunities for young children with hearing loss. EHDI Meeting participants range from state and local programs to the federal level and from academics to families.
