Clarke Specialists to Present at 22nd Annual Special Education Conference

February 9, 2012—Clarke Mainstream Teachers of the Deaf Erin Casioppo, M.E.D., Samantha Domingos, M.E.D., and Heather Stinson, M.E.D., S/LA-A, will present a special workshop on Wednesday, March 14 at the Massachusetts Special Education Conference in Deerfield, MA.

The workshop is titled, "Students with Hearing Loss in the Classroom: Why, When and How to Help!" and will provide an explanation of the various reasons why students, even those with good speech and auditory skills, may miss or misunderstand information. This includes basic issues of auditory access, as well as linguistic, phonemic, and schematic gaps and their consequences. All three presenters are experienced Teachers of the Deaf who provide direct service to students and consulting expertise in schools in Western and Central Massachusetts.

Now in its 22nd year, the Massachusetts Special Education Conference brings together teachers, paraprofessionals, specialists, consultants, administrators and service providers from around the State for two days of presentations and discussions around key issues in special education.
