Scholarship Funds Awarded to Support Three Clarke Alumni

July 31, 2020—Clarke is pleased to share that the Caroline A. Yale Memorial Fund collectively awarded more than $10,000 to three Clarke alumni. The application-based scholarship is awarded to former students who demonstrate leadership, community service and a passion for advancing their education.

Congratulations to the three scholarship winners:

Morgan

Morgan Keely

Morgan, who was born deaf, attended Clarke Philadelphia’s Early Intervention and Toddler Program. Today, Morgan is heading into her freshman year of high school and continues to think about how she can help others on a journey similar to her own. She is the founder of Morgan's Magical Ears and donates stuffed animals to children awaiting surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In addition to her work with Morgan’s Magical Ears, she recently visited Clarke Philadelphia to donate four American Girl dolls and share her story with students. She hopes to become a doctor in the future.

Garrett

Garrett Campbell

Garrett has bilateral hearing loss and started his journey at Clarke Florida when he was 18 months old. He will begin his sophomore year at his neighborhood high school this fall and take honors classes. Garrett has a passion for music and has been playing the piano for four years. He is an advocate for his peers and has shared his listening and spoken language journey at the Florida Senate and with incoming families new to Clarke.

Stephen

Stephen Dahlstrom

Stephen attended Clarke Boston’s Preschool Program. Today, he is studying criminal justice and political science at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Stephen is a member of the RISE (Research Initiative of Scientific Enhancement) undergraduate scientists in training program that promotes and prepares students who are deaf or hard of hearing for acceptance into a PhD program. He is on track to complete his double-major in 2021 and plans to continue his education in an advanced degree program.
