Dozens Gather Virtually to Celebrate Eighth-Grade Graduation

June 13, 2020—With approximately 70 students, teachers, staff, families and friends gathered together virtually in June, Clarke eighth grade graduate Aydanie received a heartfelt send-off and tribute to his achievements as a student at Clarke.

Aydanie, who began receiving services from Clarke as an infant, will be attending Hampshire Regional High School in the fall, where Clarke offers a Model Inclusion Program for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Participating students take their academic classes alongside peers with typical hearing, while having access to a Clarke teacher of the deaf, a Clarke speech-language pathologist and Clarke’s educational audiologist.

Aydanie left a lasting impression on many, winning the Brothership Award several years in a row and charming his teachers, Clarke staff and peers with his friendly, helpful attitude. One Clarke staff member noted, “Aydanie always brought a breath of fresh air when he entered school in the morning. He would stop by the office just to check in and say hello!”

In addition to being a talented musician, Aydanie is passionate about popular culture, technology and shared that he’d like to be a teacher of the deaf in the future.

Congratulations to Aydanie and his family! See photos of his graduation celebration and a follow-up, socially-distanced visit.
