Celebrating Cochlear Implant Awareness Day

February 20, 2018—Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech will recognize and celebrate Cochlear Implant Awareness Day on February 25. This global initiative celebrates technology that maximizes access to sound.

The earlier children have access to the sounds of speech, and the support of hearing professionals to provide education and therapy, the better equipped they are to learn to speak themselves.

In recent years, 60% of Clarke students have used cochlear implants. With access to advanced technology and support from specially trained teachers, audiologists and speech-language pathologists, many children who come to Clarke attend mainstream, neighborhood schools as early as kindergarten.
