News Story About Educating Children with Hearing Loss Wins Suncoast Regional Emmy Award

December 9, 2017—Clarke participated in a WTLV-TV Jacksonville news story exploring the options available to families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

On December 2, 2017, Lewis Turner, a First Coast News anchor and friend of Clarke, received a Suncoast Emmy Award for the story!

“Storytelling is a very powerful tool to educate and illustrate important issues. The most important part of the story is never the reporter," said Lewis. "It’s always the characters who are willing to talk about and share personal life details who make a story the most powerful. The Tweet and Hills families’ willingness to talk with me on how they feel about cochlear implants so candidly is what made this story so good, and what made it most impactful for those who may have never thought about this as a two-sided issue. Their candor is also what made it an award winner.”

Congratulations to Lewis, Clarke in Florida and all of the families willing to share their personal stories to raise awareness and build a culture of acceptance!
