Clarke Chosen to be Part of Comcast Cares Day Event

June 7, 2017—This spring, Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech in Philadelphia, PA was honored to be selected as a recipient of Comcast's annual international volunteering effort—Comcast Cares Day.

Since 2001, Comcast Cares Day has been held to honor the company’s commitment to community service, and has grown to become the largest single-day corporate volunteer event in the United States.

With ten different themed volunteer opportunities—from gardening and library re-shelving to playground clean-up—Comcast Cares Day made an important difference in the lives of children who are deaf or hard of hearing who are learning to listen and talk in Clarke Philadelphia’s classrooms. More than 150 volunteers from Comcast and Clarke came together to improve the children’s learning environments and help Clarke foster community spirit through activities that are tailored to volunteers’ unique capabilities and talents.

And of the more than 900 Comcast Cares activities taking place around the world on April 22, the event at Clarke was chosen to be featured in this gorgeous video production by Comcast. Watch to learn more about Clarke’s work teaching children with hearing loss how to listen and talk, and discover what it meant to Clarke teachers and families to be selected for this important honor.
