Angelina

When three-year old bookworm Angelina was born in December 2013, she failed her newborn hearing screening. Soon after, she was diagnosed with bilateral profound sensorineural hearing loss. Her parents were shocked, as both her older siblings have typical hearing.

Angelina then received her bilateral cochlear implants in 2015. From June through December of 2016, Angelina and her family participated in Clarke’s tVISIT program—in which Early Intervention services are provided over the Internet via videoconferencing technology.

Now Angelina attends Clarke Orlando’s brand new Preschool Program, which was opened in January 2017 to address the need for providing students who are deaf or hard of hearing with Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) therapy and education in the Central Florida region. In her first preschool experience, Angelina is thriving and having a blast! She loves playing in the school facility’s playground, working on art projects and will happily host you in her favorite spot—the house center. Angelina tells us the best color is pink, and her favorite hobby is reading books with Mom.

Thanks for letting us share your story, Angelina, and we look forward to all your future successes!
