Florida’s First Ever Ice Cream Royalty to be ‘Coned’ at Kilwins 2017 Ice Cream Run

January 20, 2017—Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech is royally excited to announce that top fundraisers at the 5th Annual Kilwins Ice Cream Run on March 4, 2017 will be crowned with custom-designed ice cream regalia, and be honored as Florida’s first ever ice cream royalty.

Kilwins Ice Cream Run is a 5K race (or a 1-mile fun run/walk) around St. Johns Center in Jacksonville, Florida, held annually to benefit children with hearing loss who learn to listen and talk at Clarke Jacksonville. At this 5th annual run/walk on March 4, 2017, participants will enjoy a lively event scene with vendors, giveaways, a hugely popular 100-yard Kiddie Dash and all-you-can-eat gourmet Kilwins ice cream at the finish line.

Kicking off a new tradition at the 2017 medal ceremony, top fundraisers in their age categories will be inducted into Florida’s first ever Kilwins Ice Cream Run Royal Court—which will include an Ice Cream King, Queen, Prince and Princess. Each member of the Royal Court will receive a one-of-a-kind custom-designed crown, a plaque and supreme bragging rights for their yearlong reign. In addition, the overall top individual fundraiser from the Kilwins Ice Cream Royal Court will receive two round-trip tickets from JetBlue.

“With the Kilwins Ice Cream Run growing steadily each year, we wanted to create a unique opportunity and incentive for our participants,” noted Dana Stallings, owner of Kilwins at the St. Johns Town Center and parent of a Clarke alum. “We hear from so many runners and supporters that they want to do more than just pay a registration fee—they want to really help raise funds to support the life-changing services that Clarke provides to deaf and hard of hearing children who are learning to listen and talk. So when we came up with the ice cream coronation, we knew it would appeal to fans of Clarke, ice cream lovers and road race enthusiasts in the region. We’re so excited to ‘cone’ Florida’s first ice cream royal court!”
