Clarke Hires Three Business Professionals to Join Development Team


January 26, 2015—Northampton, MA; Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech welcomes the newest members of its development team. Arianna Collins has been hired as Project Coordinator, providing support for grants and projects at all Clarke locations; Alyssa Mancinelli as the Northampton-based Development Associate; and Erin McKenney as the Development Associate for Clarke’s Boston-area location. Clarke’s Chief Development Officer, Julie Cowan, states, “These three women bring a passion for education, a talent for volunteer coordination and skills in collaborating on projects with individuals and groups: in joining Clarke, they are now part of an organization that is rich with history, experience and expertise that is unparalleled. With more and more families choosing listening and spoken language programs for their children who are deaf or hard of hearing, Clarke’s development team works to secure resources to ensure its programs are available for generations to come.”

ABOUT ARIANNA COLLINS

Arianna Alexsandra Collins joined Clarke after having run her own business, Offerings for Community Building, for the last three years, specializing in project coordination, promotion, event planning and organizational management. Prior to branching out on her own, she worked for area non-profit organizations, including the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association in Greenfield, MA and the Bonnyvale Environmental Educational Center in Brattleboro, VT. Arianna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Hampshire College and a Master’s degree in Environmental Administration from Antioch University New England. Her volunteer work includes the Western Massachusetts Green Consortium and Share the Warmth in Ashfield. Arianna is a talented writer, having written for several local and regional businesses, non-profits, and publications, and in fact, her first novel, Hearken to Avalon, is due to come this year.

Collins states, “I am enthusiastic to dedicate my talents in writing, promotion and project coordination to such a vital organization as Clarke. I am particularly heartened to see and hear so many children, thriving as part of the Clarke community.”

ABOUT ALYSSA MANCINELLI

Alyssa Mancincelli comes to Clarke from Cheshire Academy and was previously with Girl Scouts of Connecticut and The Second Step, an organization that provides transitional housing and a variety of support services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children. Alyssa has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Lasell College in Newton. Giving back is a clear theme in her life as she has been a long-time volunteer with Special Olympics. An avid runner, who competes mainly on behalf of charities, she recently ran the Boston Half Marathon for Dana Farber/Jimmy Fund in October and is looking to run another half marathon next fall. When she’s not running, Alyssa can be found in a hockey rink as she is a major hockey fan and enjoys traveling to the different arenas to see her favorite teams play.

Mancinelli states, “I believe in passion, integrity, and heart, and that’s what Clarke Schools have. I’m excited to be a part of this wonderful organization and it’s incredible to see how much of a difference we make in the children and their family’s lives.”

ABOUT ERIN MCKENNEY

Erin McKenney comes to Clarke from the YMCA of Central Massachusetts in Worcester where she served in several roles, most recently as Account Manager. Improving the lives of others and the surrounding community has been a recurring theme in both her education and professional careers. She possesses a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Political Science from Niagara University and a Master’s in International Development and Social Change from Clark University. She has worked on a variety of community-based projects in the U.S., Sri Lanka and Ireland, with volunteer coordination a key element to their success. Her passion is traveling and she loves to explore new areas of the United States and the world. When she cannot be travelling, she enjoys discovering new places through reading and always has a new book at hand.

McKenney states, “I am very excited to be working with Clarke! The staff and parents do amazing work every day to help children who are deaf or hard of hearing realize success in the speaking and listening world. I am honored to be involved with such a caring organization and to share their work with volunteers and community organizations who want to be part of it all.”
