Clarke Summer Adventure Camp Featured in Daily Hampshire Gazette!

July 28, 2014—EASTHAMPTON—In a classroom on The Williston Northampton School campus Thursday, six children clapped, hopped and boogied while singing backup along with a recording of “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors while Jordan Gatewood, 13, took the lead.

Hearing aids and cochlear implants behind their ears helped them to hear the catchy song and dance to the beat with gusto.

They are among 28 campers at Summer Adventure Camp, a two-week program for 9 to 14-year-olds who are deaf or hard of hearing that is run by the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech. The camp has been held for nearly 30 years at the Clarke Schools’ Northampton campus on Round Hill Road, but since part of that campus sold in 2013, the campers have spend their two-week stay each summer at The Williston Northampton School in Easthampton.
