Clarke Summer Adventure Alum to Appear on Reality Series “Project Runway”

July 2, 2013—Lights, camera, action! Clarke Summer Adventure alum Justin LeBlanc will be appearing as a contestant on season 12 of Project Runway!

Justin attended Summer Adventure, Clarke's summer program for children with hearing loss, twice in the 1990s. He was diagnosed with a severe-profound hearing loss at one year old and wore hearing aids until he received a cochlear implant in 2004.

His mother Kathy says, "Justin loved his time at the Clarke summer camp. His Dad and I also really valued the opportunity to get to know the Clarke staff and the other parents. We felt were were not alone in meeting the educational challenges in raising a deaf child."

Justin went on to graduate in 2004 from Broughton High School. He received his Bachelor's degree in Architecture from North Carolina State University in 2009 where he was a Caldwell Fellow and recipient of the GlaxoSmithKline Fellowship.

While at NCSU, Justin was first introduced to fashion design while competing in the annual Art2Wear event hosted by NCSU's College of Design.

Justin is currently an Assistant Professor in North Carolina State University's School of Design, where he teaches fashion design. He was co-Director of the 2013 Art2Wear Fashion Show.

Project Runway follows 16 fashion designers as they compete in creative challenges in order to win $100,000 and a prize package. The designs are judged and one or more designers are eliminated each week. The first episode will air on July 18, 2013 on Lifetime.
