May 14, 2012—Bill Corwin, President of Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech, is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Lowe of Woburn, MA as Chief Financial Officer. Lowe is a seasoned executive who, for the past twenty years, has worked with an array of nonprofits in all areas of finance and operations.
Most recently, Lowe served as the Chief Financial Officer for Physicians for Human Rights, Inc., a Cambridge-based organization founded in 1986 to combat human rights violations internationally. She has also served as Chief Financial Officer at FSG Social Impact Advisors, an international nonprofit management strategy consulting firm, and as Chief Financial Officer for the Beverly School for the Deaf.
Lowe is an active member of the AIPCA, the Massachusetts Society of CPAs, and the CFO Roundtable. She holds a Master’s Degree in Accountancy from Bentley University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Political Science from Bucknell University, and a graduate certificate in Management and Administration from Harvard University.
“We are pleased to welcome Susan as part of our executive management team. Her extensive experience in nonprofit financial operations will greatly benefit Clarke as we continue to expand our services for children with hearing loss, their families and the professionals that serve them,” said Corwin.

Lowe will oversee financial operations throughout Clarke’s five East Coast locations and will succeed Steven Balicki, who served as Clarke’s Business Manager and Treasurer for the past 28 years.
